A few days late here but I’d like to wish a happy belated birthday to this incredible woman, mother, scientist, and photographer! Victoria’s friendship and mentorship has been instrumental to my own personal growth and I’m so grateful to have her on this journey with me. Few weeks ago I had the pleasure of spending quality time with her and having her in front of my camera for a fun session in her studio in Indiana.
I think the main reason I love being a photographer is because I love connecting with people and learning their story and how they came to be who they are and what they do now, and where they want to go in life. I’m very outgoing so any opportunity I get to socialize with adults is a victory in my book (my husband is sometimes a little embarrassed by extrovertedness).
Victoria Odekomaya is the owner and photographer behind LiMStudios in Greenfield, Indiana. Victoria’s story is so inspiring and we actually have a lot in common. We both immigrated to the United States and now are so proud to call this country our home— she’s from Nigeria and man, her traditional cooking is so. freaking. good! She studied in Hawaii and worked on the east coast before settling in Indiana for work. And what is it with all of the STEM-inclined folks who are just oozing with creativity? We are very similar in that we both went back to the arts and sought to satisfy our inner closet creative. Victoria is a scientist who does some really amazing things to further research of new pharmaceutical drugs and biologics, yet there she is carving time out of her day as a mom and researcher to grow this passion of hers. It’s no surprise she creates stunning portraits of women and gives them this incredible experience they will never forget. She never ceases to inspire me with her drive, tenacity, and vision. I’m so grateful she and I connected earlier this year and became fast friends. Thank you Victoria for inviting me into your home and the opportunity to spend time with your beautiful family. I cannot wait to see the impact you make this new year and in the years to come. Gah, you’re goals!
